The Historic Avon Theater in Breese Reopens with Rehearsal for Murder
By the award-winning writers of TV's Columbo, Murder She Wrote, Mannix and McCloud
October 17 to 19 and 24 to 16, 2008
The historic Avon Theater in Breese is undergoing a $100,000 extreme makeover-so extreme that only the front lobby and dressing rooms were left standing during demolition!
The Clinton County Showcase proudly presents its first production since renovations began, Rehearsal for Murder, by award-winning mystery writers William Link and Richard Levinson. Performances are October 17 to 19 and 24 to 15 at 8:00 p.m., with a 2:00 Sunday matinee on October 26. Tickets are $9.
Before each show, theatergoers will be treated to "Broadway 1962," an interactive guided tour of the historic Avon theater, featuring costumed characters, antique autos and tours of the completed and of planned renovations. Doors open at 7:00 for tours on show nights and at 1:00 on matinee day; a tour of the theater house is included with your Rehearsal for Murder ticket purchase.
Rehearsal for Murder???? The authors of this thriller have all had direct Broadway experience, and their dialogue has a special sting of wit and reality: A lonely playwright turns on the stage lights and prepares for the first reading of his new play. One year prior, the actors, producer, director and others connected with the show were involved with another play by the same playwright, but the beautiful leading lady, who was also the playwright's fiancée, was murdered! Startling connections between the play and the murder begin to unfold. The growing tension reaches the boiling point, with surprising revelations and dazzling plot twists that build to a theatrically stunning climax! "The best mystery in years."
